McRae: Murder at the Opera

About

San Francisco, 1906. Broderick McRae, reporter for the Morning Call, has discovered he’s two people. A different person inhabits his mind and body. The Other is a dead Italian soldier named Abramo. He tells McRae they are both on a mission to save the city. Their task involves a murdered opera singer and a killer on the loose. There’s also Enrico Caruso, who’s coming to town. McRae doesn’t even like opera.Worse yet, McRae’s dear wife Julianna has just left him. After all this, things start getting complicated.

Praise for this book

The author writes about murder, mayhem, and metaphysics that lead down winding roads through old San Francisco, just before and culminating in the earthquake of 1906. It's a work of fiction set in a specific time in history. You wonder what will happen to McRae, who finds himself in truly unfamiliar territory, and other characters who are woven into the story. You'll spend a pleasant evening with this entertaining story.

Though not in the realm of reality, the story is crafted to pull the reader in. It’s not great literature, but the story is interesting and, at time, mischievous.

Kept me n the edge of my seat. Very different. I will read more of the MacRae mysteries if available.
